Swimming report for the Inter-House Swimming gala, 2017

There was much anticipation and excitement leading up to the Inter-House Swimming gala this year! The Year 5 and 6s started off the competition on 15th May with some superb swimming. The races were very close, the support for everyone was outstanding and every swimmer contributed to the score. Tonkin’s House won the Lovett Cup (medley relay trophy) and Hardy’s won the Freestyle relay cup. Special congratulations must go to individual cup winners: Rohan B for winning the Cox trophy (50m backstroke), Leon E for winning the Axtell cup (50m breaststroke), Jake G for winning the Monaghan Cup (50m freestyle) and Luca V for winning the Pell cup for 100m Individual Medley. The overall scores at the end of the morning were incredibly close: Tonkin’s and Trease’s were in the lead with 66 points, followed closely by Hardy’s with 64 points and Ball’s with 33 points. Well done to all the swimmers!

The Year 3 and 4s then took up the reins the following Tuesday with all to swim for. For many, it was the first time that they had swum in front of such a large audience. There was some fantastic swimming from every single participant and there was such amazing encouragement from all of the supporters! The results of the Year 3 and 4 gala are as follows:

1st place: Tonkin’s 60 points
2nd place: Trease’s 45 points
3rd place: Hardy’s 38 points
4th place: Ball’s 33 points

These were then added onto the scores from the Year 5 and 6 gala which gave an overall result for the Inter House Swimming 2017:

1st place: Tonkin’s 126 points
2nd place: Trease’s 109 points
3rd place: Hardy’s 104 points
4th place: Ball’s 66 points

Congratulations and well done to everyone.

Thank you to all the staff for their involvement and parent timekeepers.
