Poetry cloudPoetry On Saturday 27th February Cole T-S and Luca R-A competed in the finals of the first ‘St Martin’s Ampleforth Performance Poetry Competition’.  Their poems had been chosen from hundreds of entries in a variety of age groups. Both boys put on excellent performances of their self-penned entries and Luca gained first place in his age category.  Congratulations to both boys for their wonderful creativity and representing the school so well.

Unfortunately, the Under 10s Football team lost 2-0 to Plumtree on Monday 29th February. This was a challenging match against a strong team including one Year 6 pupil who dominated the play. Very good performances from Aman C, who showed excellent control and read the play well, and from Harrison S who made some great saves in goal.

Coach Shaw

Against Fairfield Prep on 3rd March, the under U10A lost 2-1 (Rayan M scored our goal) and the U10B team lost 2 nil. They had plenty of chances and dominated the match for large parts  of the game. Fairfield only had about four attempts and scored two of them. Our attacks didn’t end with a goal, we just couldn’t score.

Coach Jones & Shaw

Again, against Fairfield Prep, Our U11a defeated Fairfield 11-1. Goal scorers Isaac M 5 (including 3 stunners), Max M-S 1, Ben M 1 and substitute Mo S came on with ten minutes to play and scored 4.

The U11B team beat Fairfield 5-2 Goals from super sub Aamar K (4) and Zak I.

SwimmingSwimming:     Report on Bromsgrove Swimming Gala
On Monday 29th February, ten Junior School pupils set off to the 32nd Invitational Relay Swimming gala hosted by Bromsgrove School and held at Worcester pool. This is traditionally a prestigious meeting of Independent Schools in the area offering very strong competition for everyone. We were able to take an A and B team to take part in the Under 11 events which involved 15 teams for the medley and freestyle relay events. First off the blocks were our Medley teams.  There were three heats; our B team came fifth in their heat and our A team came 4th and qualified for the A final (the fastest 6 teams in that event) and came 5th overall.

Next were the heats for the Freestyle relays; our B team came 5th in their heat and our A team came 3rd in their heat. Our A team qualified again for the “A” finals and swam superbly coming a close 5th.

All of the pupils swam exceedingly well against strong opposition and a couple of pupils gained personal bests. James M and Archie G swam particularly well in their first school fixture. It was great to accompany our Senior School who entered the Under 13 events; they came 1st in their medley event and 2nd in their freestyle and it was lovely to see that so many of them had come through the Junior School! Well done to everyone!
