Provisional results suggest that our U11 medley team have come 4th and U11 freestyle team have come 1st in the national IAPs competition! We have never had a team go through to the top 12 in the relays before, never mind such outstanding positions! Ted G-D, Ben W and Sammy K have also qualified for their individual events!

Unfortunately, the results are provisional at present as IAPS are still checking some details.  We are looking forward, to the IAPS swimming final at Crawley on 10th May

We had some excellent results against Fernwood County Team, coming in 3rd and 4th place. However, Mr Jones was delighted with the excellent behaviour of all the Year 3 boys who were superb ambassadors for the school and made him (and us) exceptionally proud.

Wembley 1

Each school in the tournament represented their local League 1 Football Club. As Nottingham’s representative we represented Notts County FC, following our success at Meadow Lane last month.

In total the boys have played in over twenty matches following their success in two previous qualifying tournaments run by the Nottinghamshire Schools FA.

Results:
Group Stage:
Notts County 1 Crewe Alexandra 0 (Oliver B.)
Notts County 0 Carlisle United 3
Notts County 1 Bradford City 0 (Oliver B.)
Notts County 1 Port Vale 0 (Oliver B.)
Notts County 0 Oldham Athletic 0

We qualified in first place with 10 points, and met the runners up of Group B.

Semi Final:

Notts County 1 Shrewsbury Town 1 (Sammy K.)
Notts County won 4-2 on penalties. (Despite only 2 players wanting to take a penalty due to the pressure!. The final penalty was from Rohan, despite him stating he was not going to take one, but we had no choice)

Final:
Notts County 3 Preston North End 0 (Sammy King, Oliver Br & Zehn R.)

Message from Rod Hirst : Hon. Sec. Nottingham Schools F.A.
Just a quick note of congratulations for winning the Regional Final of the Football League Kids Cup at Crewe on Friday. I gather the final is on Sunday 25th May at Wembley. Very best of luck for that and I hope to be congratulating the boys after that. I hope you all have a great day.

Unfortunately, the U10s football team lost 4-2 vs Whitemoor this afternoon. After being 3-0 down, in the first-half, the boys picked up their game and scored 2 good goals (Ryaan Z and Alex C).

Man of the match – Joseph P, voted unanimously by all the boys.

The A team found it hard going against a very strong Hymers team, conceding 8 tries. The B team enjoyed large amounts of possession and won 20 – 0. Well done to everyone involved.

Report on Bromsgrove Swimming Gala

On Monday 3rd March, eight Junior School boys (six Under 11s and two U10s) set off to the 30th Invitational Relay Swimming gala hosted by Bromsgrove School and held at Worcester pool. This is traditionally a meeting of Prep (and boarding) schools offering very strong competition for our boys. This year we were able to take an A and B team to take part in the Under 11 events which involved 14 teams for the medley relays and 16 teams for the freestyle relays. First off the blocks were our Medley teams.  There were three heats; our A team came first in their heat with a time of 1.14.57 (and were the second fastest qualifying team for the final). Our B team came first in their heat with a time of 1.20.71 and also qualified for the A final (the fastest 6 teams in that event). Both teams swam exceedingly well in the final-our A team came 2nd and our B team came 6th.

Next were the heats for the Freestyle relays; our A team came 1st in their heat with a time of 1.04.76 and our B team came 3rd in their heat with a time of 1.11.40. Our A team qualified again for the “A” finals (fastest 6 teams) swam superbly with such an amazingly close finish-2nd by a hundredth of a second!! Our B team comfortably qualified for the B final (only just missing out on a place in the A final) and came 1st in the B final (7th fastest team out of 16).

All of the boys swam exceedingly well (especially Neel B and Oliver H who were U 10s) against strong opposition (indeed one coach said to another coach that the standard on the day was comparable to that of national standards of swimming). It was great to accompany our Senior School who entered the Under 13 events and swam very well; many of them had come through the Junior School! Well done to everyone!
