As ever, this assembly at Lovell was a delightful event.

These boys are allowed to take home ‘Nutty’, the class squirrel and look after him all weekend.  Nutty helps them to write the Squirrel Diary. The ‘Nuttys’ each had very exciting weekends last week, going to parties, bouncing on the trampoline and visiting grandmothers.  Life is full of excitement for Lovell House squirrels!

DSCF2150Ben H was presented with his Racket Sports award which he gained at NHS Holiday Club this summer and George told us all about being mentioned in the newspaper as ‘Man of the Match’ of his local team. Well done, boys!

Zayan B was also awarded a certificate for his multiplication facts to 10.

The U10s & U9s combined team performed brilliantly at the Foremarke Football Tournament on Saturday. We won our group with two wins (3-1 vs. Packwood, 1-0 vs. Ratcliffe College) and one defeat (1-0 to Birchfield). This took us through to the semi-finals, which we narrowly lost (2-1 against Prestfelde). We also were beaten (2-1 by Birkdale) in the 3rd place play-off, meaning we came 4th out of 16 teams in the tournament. The boys can be very pleased with their performance, especially as 4 of them were a year younger than everyone else.

DSCF2138Stand-out performances from Adam K in goal – he kept us in it a lot of the time with his shot stopping and Isaac M who scored all 6 of our goals in the tournament!

In addition, we were able to congratulate the U11 C & D teams for comprehensive victories in their matches against Grangemount Preparatory School. Thomas B’s C team won 8-0 and Ben W’s D team won 5-0. Thank you to Mr Farman for refereeing the D team match. This allowed our B game boys a fixture, and they really enjoyed the experience.

Milad was presented with his swimming trophy from Carlton Forum Swimming Club. He has broken the Club’s 50m back-stroke record. Well done, Milad.

We celebrated with Adi M on becoming the Yorkshire Junior Chess Association U12s Champion of 2013.    It is worth noting that Adi is only 9 years old.
