Well done, Shivarj for being an excellent ambassador for Nottingham High School!

Junior School Achievement Assembly, Friday 19th April 2013

Achintya told us all about the Nottingham Festival of Words where his poem, ‘Web of Lace’ was awarded a runner-up prize.  This will be presented to him in June at Waterstones.

Congratulations went to Mr Shaw and 4S for being the first form in the School where every boy has achieved the Gold Mathletics Award.  In addition, many  Gold Certificates were also awarded. Keep working on this, boys!

I was delighted to see a number of boys receiving certificates for proficiency in their mathematical tables. Well done to them.

At a tournament in Liverpool during the Easter break, Akhelesh  gained enough points to qualify for an England trial. We wish him the very best of luck at the trial. Although only 9 years old, Abhishek competed in the U11 age group and achieved a staggering 3 points.

Isaac and Robert were very excited to tell us about the medals that they won for their respective 2nd and 1st places in a recent Beeston Hockey tournament.

Student of the Week.

With such a short school week one might think that it would be difficult to single out one boy for this award. So, as you can imagine, it was with great pleasure that I was able to award 3 certificates! The staff and I have been so impressed with how well Charlie, James and Sandeep have settled into school in this, their very first week. This has been an excellent start for all three, and I know that they will work hard to maintain this level of effort.

More certificates were awarded for knowing their division facts and multiplication tables.

There were plenty more Gold Certificates awarded too.

Over the last four weekends, Ted has been swimming in The Nottinghamshire  County Age Group Championships. He has swam in 12 races consisting of all four swim strokes in both 50m and 200m distances and Individual Medleys in both 100m and 200m distance plus a freestyle relay and medley relay for his swimming club. It has been long days of which many were 8-6pm poolside both Saturday and Sunday hosted at swimming pools all over the County.

Swimmer Ted

The competition finished on Saturday and Ted was awarded with a trophy by the ASA president  for finishing 7th place in the County for his age group. The top ten swimmers receive trophies. The President announced that this year’s Championship was the highest standard to achieve a placing in 19 years!

Another Nottingham High School boy (Senior boy) achieved a position in top ten, namely Joseph Wakefield in 5th place.

This obviously looks very good for the school to have two boys finishing in the top positions.

It is a huge achievement for Ted as I am sure you will agree and he  is very pleased with his result.

He also got the opportunity to meet a Paralympic Gold, Silver and Bronze medallist in the 2012 Olympics named Oliver Hynd, after his presentation which was very exciting for him.

See Crandale blog for pictures of the trip.

Room Tidy winners : Hardcastle;Abhishek,Razeen,Tom,Oliver,Gabe, and Harry. Well done to those but well done the rest because it was a close competition and the standard was one of the best we have had.
