Bad weather this week has again taken its toll on our sports’ fixtures. Rugby matches on Monday were cancelled and the Cross Country at Leeds on Tuesday was hit by the bad weather.

Ice Hockey:

Coincidentally, despite the bad weather, we then had one boy who played ice hockey at the weekend and brought in an hockey shirt.  Oscar  had  obtained the shirt for playing in the National Ice Hockey Jamboree.

Robert showed us his medals for Hockey which he was given by his hockey club for winning the tournament. Amun was in the club’s B team who finished in a creditable 4th place.

Under 10s Football

It was a  great performance from the U10s footballers this week in the tournament at the Forest Academy ground.  Instead of an indoor tournament it was changed to be outdoors, so in the very cold (and snowy) weather they did really well! They won 4, drew 1, lost 1, to finish 2nd out of 7 teams involved and are through to the semi-finals of the Nottinghamshire Schools’  FA tournament on Wednesday 27th March. Good luck for the Finals.

Goals from Hari Bhatia (2), Sammy King (2) and Zehn Rana.

Achievement Assembly Friday 1st March

Our Achievement Assembly today had a very winter theme. As we came into the hall Miss Walster had done a picture presentation of the Junior Ski trip which was accompanied by Elton John’s song ‘I’m Still Standing.’ It was great to see the pictures of the trip, which was only a week ago, but with so much happening at the School does now seem in the distant past. For those who would like to see some pictures of the skiing trip more will be appearing shortly but there are some on the School Trips Blog.

We had quite an accomplished group of skiers last week. Cole and Joshua brought in their medals. While we saw pictures of our skiers from the Junior trip to Austria.

The tidy room award was also eagerly awaited and deservedly won by Charan, Akhilesh and Vignesh. In second place was Patrick, Ronnie, Sebby, Barnaby and Mark. As they had a larger room they all won the same prize.

Bromsgrove Gala Relay races for U11A and B teams.  An event with 13 schools.

In the Medley heats our teams came third. Both qualified for the B final. They swam really well and our A team came 1st with our B team 4th.

In the Freestyle event our A team came 2nd in their heat then 4th in the final. The B team came 3rd in their heat.

Our year 5s swam up an age so it was a very good performance overall.

At the Chess Grand Prix Rishav won a trophy for second place, a medal for best U8s game and another medal for missing out on third place on numerous other occasions at previous Grand Prix tournaments. A nice touch. One I hope the FA could adopt to my football team, Everton!

We played two Championship matches on Tuesday.

Our A team v Roundhills  won 3-1 and the  B  team beat the Girls High School 3½ – ½
