Mr Earnshaw’s Final Achievement Assembly @ NHJS :(

In what was my last ever Achievement Assembly at NHJS, we certainly started on a good note by having a ‘dance off’ to Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses to get us in the mood for what laid ahead.

I don’t know who enjoyed it more-the boys or me!

We had a lot to celebrate and it was a lovely way to wrap things up before we break up for Christmas next Wednesday.

Rohan, Ben, Luca, Oliver and Rishav know all the multiplication and division facts of the 2, 5 & 10 times tables by heart.

Daniel for knowing all the division facts of the 6, 7 & 8 times tables by heart.

Harry, Arsh and Alex for knowing all the multiplication and division facts of the 6, 7 & 8 times tables by heart.

Adam and Rohan for knowing all the multiplication and division facts of the 3, 4 & 11 times tables by heart.

Swimming

On Tuesday 11th December, 2012 the U9s, 10s and 11s A and B teams represented Nottingham High Junior School at a swimming gala at home against QEGS Wakefield. This was our first fixture of the season and the boys were ready to go for it!

There were quite a few last minute changes to the teams due to illness but boys were keen to stand in and even in some cases swim up an age group so that the gala could go ahead.

The gala started with the medley relays in all age groups and it was easy to see that this was going to be a tough gala against some very strong opposition. The boys rose to the occasion by swimming their hardest in the individual events and then swimming their absolute best in the freestyle relays at the end.

The boys were a real credit to themselves and the school. Our U10s won their age group but overall QEGS had the upper hand and came first in the U9 and U11 sections and had the highest score overall.

Our boys showed great sportsmanship and should be proud of how they conducted themselves both in and out of the pool.

Many thanks to the parents for supporting us on the balcony and all the staff and helpers involved in ensuring that the gala ran so smoothly and successfully.

Mrs H.J.Whittamore

Student of the Week goes to Ben for swimming up an age group during the QEGS gala with great aplomb.

A special thank you goes to Angus for taking the photographs today-you did a sterling job!
