Achievement Assembly @ NHJS-Friday 23rd November

Please accept my sincerest apologies for the delay in publishing our achievement blog, but since our wonderful news on Friday that Nottingham High Junior School was named The Sunday Times Preparatory School of the Year, things at NHJS have been a little hectic to say the least!

“Learning with a purpose is the recipe for success at Nottingham High Junior School where the first-year curriculum includes chess classes and the boys receive free music lessons. We are impressed by the school’s all-round approach in engaging its pupils.”

Ian Coxon, Editor, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2012

Suffice to say we had a lot to celebrate on Friday, starting with the boys pictured below, (Max, Milad & Matthew) who collected times table certificates.

Primary Maths Challenge

Mrs Segdewick, as HOD for Maths was grinning from ear to ear when the results from the recent Primary Mathematics challenge were released.

The challenge was set for our boys to do as well as they could and they certainly didn’t disappoint with the standard that was achieved in the following categories:

Bronze Award Certificates (17&18/25)

Silver Award Certificates (19&20/25)

Gold Award Certificates (21+/25)

Our gold certificate holders now go through to the National Finals-good luck boys!

Music

Anthony brought in his programme from the Stringwise! festival that he took part in last week at the Albert Hall in Nottingham.

Chess

James and Thomas were presented with chess trophies from recent competitions-well done boys!

Cricket

Rayan brought in his cricket trophy that was presented to him for his contribution in his Under 11 club team.

Student of the Week

goes to Toby in Year 6, for his  all-round aptitude, both in and out of the classroom.

Sporting Results

I am extremely proud to inform you that Mr Allison has been appointed England Team Manager for the Cross Country Internationals in 2013 and 2014. He will be taking up the post for the first international on Saturday 23rd March.
